Alice Kuipers is the bestselling, award-winning author of fifteen books for young adults, children, and writers, published in thirty-six countries. Her work spans emotionally rich YA fiction, imaginative books for younger readers, picture books, hi-lo titles for reluctant readers, and Spark: On Writing for Kids and Young Adults, her craft guide for emerging writers.
Her debut, Life on the Refrigerator Door, introduced readers around the world to her intimate, character-driven storytelling. She has since written novels including The Worst Thing She Ever Did, The Death of Us, and Me and Me, as well as the Polly Diamond chapter-book series, the Violet & Victor picture books, and multiple titles for young readers.
Alongside her own writing, Alice has mentored thousands of writers online and in person. She now coaches authors globally as Head of Coaching at The Novelry. She also writes Confessions & Coffee, a weekly Substack newsletter about books, flow, and the art of paying attention. With a degree in Psychology and an MA in Creative Writing, she brings clarity, creativity, and care to both her teaching and her work.
Originally from London, England, Alice moved to the Canadian prairies twenty years ago. She now lives in Saskatoon with her partner, author Yann Martel, their four children, and various pets. Her writing and teaching centre on flow, creativity, and the belief that stories help us pay closer attention to what matters.
